Carlos Marichal has specialized for over thirty years in teaching and research on the economic history of Mexico and Latin America, He is a professor at El Colegio de México since 1989, a leading social sciences institute. He has published a score of books as an editor or compiler of economic history in Mexico and Latin America, as well as a large number of works on intellectual history, international relations, colonial history and business history that can be consulted in PDF on this website. The academic activities of Dr. Marichal have led him to participate as visiting professor in diverse and prestigious universities of the world. He was founder of the Mexican Association of Economic History and president of the same between 2001 and 2004. He was member of the Governing Board of El Colegio de México between 2003 and 2008. He is a member of the National System of Researchers level III, emeritus and received the National Prize in Arts and Sciences of the government of Mexico in 2012.
